The administrative area of Lazio is located in the heart of Italy.
About 9% of the country’s population lives here, more than half of them (55%, or more than 2.75 million people) live in Rome, which is the capital of the region. The western border of the region is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. On the territory of Lazio is an independent city-state the Vatican. One of the main sources of income for Lazio is tourism: over 70% of the employed population of the region works in the service sector. In addition here is well developed agriculture, olives are grown here and wine making as well.
