From the origins to the present day:
The pizza as we know it came in 1889 when the Neapolitan chef Raffaele Esposito created the pizza Margherita

(tricolor) in honor of the Queen Margherita of Savoy: tomato, mozzarella and basil to honor the Queen and Italy! Until about 1830 the pizza was sold exclusively in street stalls and street vendors outside the ovens, then came the pizzerias!

In ancient times in the Mediterranean basin pizza was a very poor dish made with lard, cheese and basil (sometimes with fish waste) spread in all regions.

The pizza therefore has a really long history, very complex and uncertain, however the first statements of the word date back to 997 near Gaeta.
